Copy Changes

Published Wednesday, March 2, 2011 by Chasing Neptune

I feel rather lame, because this isn’t exactly original work. However, I feel like they are a little clever and interesting.

Both of these are copy changes of the poem, “This is Just to Say,” by William Carlos Williams.

THIS IS JUST TO SAY

I have burned

the Polaroids

that were in

the shoebox

and which

you were probably

saving

for your scrapbook

Forgive me

they were faded

so nostalgic

and so haunting.

*Apologies to William Carlos Williams

THIS IS JUST TO SAY

I have guzzled

the wine

that was behind

the pulpit

and which

you were probably

saving

for Communion

 Forgive me

it was warm

so dark

and so sweet.

*Apologies to William Carlos Williams
